You cannot be serious!

They don't call it The Daily Fail for nothing Nigel. If we agree with this then we are saying that processed foods are good for us. :? :?
 
LOL @ The Mail.. I always knew my cold baked beans with a salad was good for me and my peanut butter on cheese for a last minute late night carby snack with plenty of protein was a good idea :lol: :lol:
 
I suppose a little of what you fancy does you good but, as ever, moderation in all things and nothing to excess! :roll:
 
I don't see what all of the fuss is about. Besides the nuttella, marmalade, popcorn and baked beans everything else is fine for our gang...

Pork scratching are sent from heaven as far as I'm concerned.

I agree Patch, I eat some of those foods, but pork scratchings!!!

I remember taking my children to Beamish Museum about 15 years ago when they kept pigs on the farm, and it was a very hot summers day. The pigs were extremely hot and itchy, and were rubbing themselves against the wall of the sty resulting in their skin accumulating on the floor, and all I could think of was the pork scratchings I had ate over the years whilst intoxicated in the pub!

Never could face them after that, and the thought just turns my stomach! :roll:

I love pork scratchings, but due to the high salt levels in each packet they are now a no-no for me. :roll:
 
I don't think I've ever eaten/seen a pork scratching, how processed are they? Are they just pig skin roasted/fried and salted, or are they something else? Obviously the high salt levels they seem to have isn't good for anyone.
However they do say the only part of a pig you can't eat is it's squeal and I have to admit that when I go back to my parents I always have roast pork at least once...with proper crackling. I can't do it here as they remove the skin before sale. I've never thought of it as being particularly healthy..quite the opposite but ... in moderation.

Actually they use every part of the duck here, nothing is wasted. A very popular nibble with drinks is fritons... which are the tiny bits of duck and skin left over after the rest of it has been used for other purposes. The remains are salted and then cooked in duck fat. Locally, they are home made and served just as they come, people pull bits direct from the carcasses . You can also buy the bits preserved in their fat in supermarkets.
I have to say my neighbours are generally healthy and live to a great age.

But they were PIG scratchings Nigel - a very different thing! :lol: :lol:

If you make them yourself you can leave out the salt and they are much better. I think the manufacturers/factories must be in league with the breweries to make you buy a few more pints! :roll:
