Thanks @Indy51.

Now maybe deeper research can be carried out.
I still feel the liver holds the key. I know not the engine but maybe the misfiring organ?
The liver controls weight gain more than insulin. For some.

The liver takes the brunt of most medicines John. Steroids are processed in a far superior fashion than most tablets. They are great at what they do but have to be processed.

It was opposite in my case. When my blood sugar levels were high before being diagnosed, I started to lose weight randomly. I lose about 10kgs without doing anything and eating a lot. Because of high blood sugar, I was always hungry and since I was losing weight, I kept eating a lot, anything and everything. Eventually diagnosed and living with controlled diet now. BMI is 22.

I did some research to see that usually overweights get T2 so was surprised because I lose weight due to T2. Then some more googling and read that weight loss also happens.
I think may be it’s about the genes. My mom has been diabetic for a long time, 20 odd years.

I read this and yes it's a good start but I noticed some of the 'experts' were still saying things like 'it's down to low fat yogurt' that some woman was eating and explaining that low fat yogurt was full of sugar, etc. It still seemed to imply that it was a person's diet that caused it as opposed to a body's inability to process carbs in the first place. The chicken or the egg theory I guess.

@ickihun thanks but I was thinking not just of my case I really do think it bad luck for any one to get diabetes in any number of ways genetic, diet, drugs immune system throwing a wobbly it's all just so random. When I was diagnosed with MG the consultant registrar said to me think of it like coming up on the lottery the chances of getting this are less than winning the lottery but you did it, I said I'd sooner have a million pounds.

Poor grammar, bullying and drunks.
Quite right, too. You do not have to have gained weight to develope T2 and you certainly do not have to have been slothful.

I've seen slothfulness but not associated with diabetes.
Stress is a huge contender. Illness too.
Lack of sleep stresses the body... for me. I cannot remember my other illness meds so it knocks them about.
11yr old is ill now. Past 7weeks has been 3 of us on 2 courses of antibiotics. For scarlet fever now tonsillitis/throat infections.
Will it ever end. Fruit and veg is getting binned due to it rotting. I'm going back to frozen ones.
Morrisons frozen berries are good.

After an initial infection the immune system can feel a bit battered so other opportunistic bacteria/virus' can get a hold. It takes a while then for the body to 'mop up' these infections.

Nowt wrong with frozen veg, I prefer fresh but I will use frozen veg and, yes, frozen berries are great, no more throwing the last few fresh ones away.

Hope you all get well soon so you can start enjoying tne summer.

I have found that if I am rundown, an infection that most people can clear in one week, lasts 2-3 weeks, and it can take up to 6 months to feel back to "normal for me." Makes life challenging but I am determined to keep on fighting.
