This study could have been reported as “Those who have the lowest pre-statin LDL-C have more CVD over the next few years”. It should have been reported as, “Smokers and alcohol misusers have more CVD events – oh and they tend to be less compliant with health advice generally.”
In other words, low LDL cholesterol is bad for you.Personally, I believe that higher HDL is good for you and it is the type of LDL you have that matters (this isn’t measured by the NHS standard tests).
