I would like to ask if there is any member out there that has had a cataract removed and being blind in one eye. I am nervous about doing it but my eyesight has got more fuzzy recently and I do not think I can put off having the cataract removed for much longer.
I am a well controlled Type 1 diagnosed in 1960. Lost my sight in my right eye in 1980 due to a detached retina. I am interested in knowing if one has any sight immediately after the surgery as I do not have a pump but use insulin pens and test my blood sugar many times a day but with a meter and test strips.
I am worried about how I am going to cope if I am unable to see anything after the surgery.
I also have a corneal abrasion on the side of my "good" eye that does not obstruct vision but does water considerably at times when waking up from sleep as my eye is very dry despite using drops and ointment. I have had this for many years and it flares up now and again but I do not know what happens to this if one has cataract surgery. Would welcome any member's experience of anything similar.
