Ask your Doctor if you can go on Metformin SR as it's much kinder to the stomach. What you are feeling now happens very frequently unfortunately.

hi anne0257 :D
I uuse to feel the same on metformin stomach cramps etc...... As daisy says why not ask to change to metformin sr I did and never looked back. I take 2 500 mg tablets in the evenings directly after my food and do not have any side effects.
Hope this helps and good luck changing over

i'm sorry to hear that your doctor wont change you over and you basically have to put up with it :(
I don't understand why he wont chamge your medication, i'm not an expert or don't know very much so could be wrong, but i thought they were basically the same tablet, i'm on a number of medication ranging from avraststin, amlodipine, bisoporol, cheymedor, levythyroxine, asprin, my metformin and about to start on another tablet recommended by my cardiac consultant, and was changed straight away when i told my gp about the problems i was having on regular metformin.
Hope you get it all sorted soon and begin to feel better :)
