"In the event of a hypo, take 15 grams of fast acting carbs. Wait 15 minutes, then re-test."

Take15 gCH and wait 15 minutes to retest? I'd be in a coma in the back of an ambulance right now, instead of writing this.

Rule of 15, my ****. Who comes up with this *****?

It must be some NHS rule as I got told exactly the same when I got my pump in July. Don't follow this rule myself though. Glad you got yourself sorted:)

Ow. So scary, Spiker. Does this happen often? Have you passed out before? And are you all right now?

Lucy
I am ok now Lucy, thank you.

At a rough count I have been in a hypoglycemic coma 6-8 times in 18 years. Most of them were in the early years. The last one was about 3 years ago. It is a very unpleasant experience. The last seconds before unconsciousness are pure panic, terror even. And a significant risk of death, apparently - I never knew, but I learned here. I actually heard it on DAFNE first in the Q&A, but didn't believe the stats.
