Type of diabetes
Don't have diabetes
Treatment type
I do not have diabetes
Well I am looking at the younger ages allowing them to get in a routine and help them with dealing with type 1 in school and at home. I am looking at making the blood sugar monitor a more interactive system and work as a reminder system. this will link with GPs and parents of the child so they can monitor the child without them feeling nagged and also flag up if there not doing it or blood sugars are to high or to low. and was wondering if parents of children would find this useful also having the ability to contact a diabetic specialists 24/7 using a app or web chat would be useful rather then having to go to the GP or Hospital to find out stuff? I am a student at Plymouth uni and study 3D design any help would be appreciated

You might want to go and Google Nightscout rather than reinventing the wheel.

Thanks for that info that is useful but as I have always been told you can never reinvent only ever improve something

Think a little more broadly on your second point. You have engaged with the community asking about engaging with HCPs. The key message from them is to take responsibility for self and provide "patient power". This community offers vast amounts of that. I think it would be better to look at how peer to peer assistance could be better enabled and validated than how to inundate someone 24/7 for whom it is a job, and they are not paid to be on call for that period.

There is something like this for people with cardiac conditions, diabetes and high blood pressure, a company called Tunstall have a programme called Telehealthcare, patient takes readings the info is then available to health professionals to check, if the readings are missed this sets off an alarm for health professionals. I have used the system but only for cardiac patients, I know Cornwall and Somerset health authority use it for all health conditions.
You would be trying to compete against companies that have years of research and technology behind them

My two cs is that monitors don't need to be more interactive. This is no game. Children need to be made aware of the seriousness of the disease and the importance of testing. That means showing them diabetics suffering from their lack of control in their age group and not letting it be this distant 'it will never happen to me. I'm only X years old'
