hi my daughter who is just 2 has been diagnosed yesterday with type1.

Luckily I spotted the signs as I am type1 too (have been since I was 2) so hopefully caught it early.

I just wondered if any other type1s with young children diagnosed? I normally post on the pregnancy forum as I also have baby twins. I'm so upset about it all and obviously know what this means for her as I live it every day! I was well controlled in both pregnancies. Not quite sure how I'm going to cope with everything as one of my twins is ill (not diabetic issues at the moment).

Any morale support or anyone in a similar situation?
Thank you

Wow, you have your hands full @1Sarah1.

I will bump your post up to see if other parents/Type1s can help you out.

Stay strong and take care,

I'm not a parent of a type one but I am the child of one. I was 6 when diagnosed. Mum faced a lot of self loathing for a while thinking she 'gave' me it but she did nothing of the sort so don't let your brain go down that route when it tries to do so. Also, having a type 1 parent can be a wonderful advantage. You will understand things in ways non-d parents simply can't. You will understand easier when she becomes that that angry 'I AM NOT HYPO' monster. You will be her rock, her inspiration. I would suggest turning it into a game at first. Sort of 'mummy goes her injection, X does her injection' 'mummy test, you test'. Maybe try make it your thing~ Make a big show of her joining that special section of the fridge where the insulin lives. I LOVED that. You will give her strength every day by living her life so any time she hears or sees the suggestion that she can't do something she will automatically think '....mum does. must be a load of bull that'. <333
