I haven't been around for a while because my userid was deleted. I have now returned and find that things seem to have changed. The thing I'm struggling with at the moment is sending a personal message, not something that seems to be referred to as a comment and restricted to 420 characters (I get longer text messages) but a proper message. I've clicked on the envelope and don't get anything that looks like I can type a message. I did receive a "comment" from somebody who had a similar problem, so at least I'm not alone.

There are times in my dotage when I use "applications" on the Windows PC, Android tablet and phone that have been upgraded and wonder why the new version is not as user friendly as the previous version.

Think as you reregistered you have to post at least 5 posts.

There is a minimum number of posts needed before you can send a message. That number is curently being updated and checked (so I haven't given you a figure).

You and me both.

I've recently upgraded previously perfectly usable software only to find it's no longer visible to the naked eye....or even those with their granny glasses on...

Thanks, I might have to have words with the powers that be, especially as they had deleted my previous userid.

@DavidGrahamJones ....might be worth checking your privacy sessions (found in your account section)....you can either choose to accept messages from 'members only' or 'people that you follow'....could be the wrong box is ticked or if you choose 'to follow' a particular member that may do the trick...
....I once had the same issue with someone else that I couldn't send a private message to but somehow they resolved it from their end....is worth a try...hope it works for you....

I worked in the IT industry for 35 years and was involved in software development for several of those years. I get the impression that software these days is upgraded or amended just for the sake of it. Most annoying when a feature is removed and you get promises (that will never be kept) that it will be re-instated.

Cheers, I'll have a look now.

Glad to have you back!
And thank you for keeping the avatar - helps me ID people instantly.

I would love it if everyone had to have a unique one. All the multiple ppl as tigers and cats in burgers throws me every time.

Did all your posts get deleted too? That would be terrible. Your posts are great.

I reckon in part it's a money spinning effort. I feel I should have learned by now that software upgrades aren't necessarily a "Good Thing" but I'm still sometimes gullible/daft enough to do them - to my eventual regret...

Everything went, I've even returned as a slightly different person. No spaces between my names, they're between my ears now.
