hello everyone. I made a few threads explaining these past few days and my fears of diabetes. I have had frequent urination(which has simmered down a bit) pains that radiate all over my body, including my eyes and fingers which get twitchy. Lightheadedness and at times confusion. My first non fasting glucose test was 66 before eating and 77 after eating. My fasting glucose blood test was 83. Recently I had to go to the ER due to pain and feeling lightheaded. They ran a Cbc test on my blood in s lab this time and my glucose level after eating was 149! I'm from the United States so our bg chart is different but 149 is above normal but not crossing diabetes lines. I'm going for a fasting hbac1 test tomorrow morning , but how is it possible to have so many symptoms thought my BG levels are not high enough to be considered diabetic?

Not everything we experience in the way of symptoms and pain are diabetes related.
Nobody here can diagnose and I suggest you stop worrying as this will raise your blood sugars. Do your test tomorrow and then came back if you are diagnosed.

Sorry but I just wanted to know if anybody here may have experienced the same thing in going through.

Have you checked your temperature? This may be an infection or flu type illness.

Kalisun, I have responded on your other thread but wondered if you know that all the symptoms you have described can be related to very raised anxiety levels?

They could be symptoms of anything not necessarily diabetes. Diabetes doesn't really cause "pains" like you've described, but none of us are medical people so if you're concerned about your health, it's always best to get checked out, if only for your own peace of mind.

149 is 8.3 in UK numbers and that result is possible for a non-diabetic after eating.

Don't get yourself worried unnecessarily. Sometimes tests are done simply to rule things out and don't mean you have a certain condition necessarily :)

It would appear that the OP (who is in the US) has requested the Hba1c be carried out by a private doctor, rather than it being ordered by his/her GP.

Don't take this the wrong way, but most of us here actually do have diabetes so while many of us have experienced some of the same symptoms, it was actually the result of diabetes.

You need to understand that your symptoms are associated with high blood sugars often caused by diabetes, but they're not DIRECTLY caused by diabetes. In short, all of us aren't running around feeling light-headed and having to pee 20+ times a day. If you had blood sugar levels in the 300 range it would certainly explain your symptoms, but the number you mentioned are nowhere close. In fact, they're nearly perfect for someone WITHOUT diabetes.

I'll echo what others have asked, what makes you think this is diabetes?

It just seems like every little symptom I have is related to diabetes. Sorry if I sound ridiculous. I had my a1c test done today. I really don't have many people that know about it to talk to. I'm very nervous guy in general.

Thanks. I just wanted to know how the experiences of people who have dealt with this.

Kalisun, I asked on your other thread about your age and whether you have anxiety issues. I should have checked your previous posts, sorry, bit lazy of me! There was a reason for me asking, and now I have looked back at your posts, I'm going to take a leap and suggest that you may be suffering from what is known as HA, or health anxiety. Only a suggestion mind, and not a suggestion that your symptoms are in your mind, or that you are making them up, far from it.
HA is a condition, one that is truly awful to live with, but one that you can get help to overcome, if that is what ails you. People that have HA have a best friend in (DR) Google, spending hours looking up illnesses they believe they may have, and researching many of the "symptoms" they have, and attributing those symptoms to the illness that they fear. They can get caught in a truly horrible pattern of going from one illness to the other, refusing to believe test results, asking for more and more tests, usually more intrusive each time. They also often react badly to any suggestion that they do not have the particular illness they fear, as to them it is the only thing that makes sense, and they fear they are getting sicker and sicker because their illness is being ignored - while the whole time, the illness is Health Anxiety.

I'm not saying you have it, I am in no position to say that. But it happens, it's real, and it seems to be affecting more and more young people, from teens through to thirties. I have anxiety, though not Health Anxiety, and I have known many people with HA, there is always a pattern to their behaviour and that is usually disbelief in negative test results, and all available time spent on Google looking at symptoms. If any of this sounds familiar to you, maybe consider the possibility that HA is what you could have?

Wishing you well.

PS. I used to belong to this forum, I hope admin don't mind me adding this link. Have a read and see what you think. http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/articles/healthanxiety

Because of all the symptoms I have. The frequent urination(which has calmed down) lightheadedness. Vision is a little different. Headaches. Pain that goes from head to toe. Fingers get tingly as well as my toes. I did another finger prick today and it was good. Again in sorry for sounding so ridiculous. I'm a nervous guy in general and always talk to people who have dealt with things I maybe going through. I'm not asking for a diagnosis.

One night I just woke up with a load of symptoms and I wasn't having much anxiety at the time. I will look more into HA. Along with talking to my doctor. Thank you

Hiya. I think that's a brilliant idea, the fact you haven't dismissed it outright (nor taken offence!) is really positive. On the link I have given you, there is a forum attached, you don't need to be a member to read. Have a look at the HA section - I think you will be shocked at just how many people started in the same way as you - symptoms that came from nowhere, anxiety doesn't need to be bad, many had no anxiety at all, which makes the whole thing harder to believe. The first step is to believe your test results, and it's tough, but do-able. I'll leave it there, hoping that you have a read up on HA, but also that you get a degree of comfort from the fact that you do not have diabetes. We've got it, so we're pretty clued up on it;)

Good luck at the docs.:)

You don't sound ridiculous - everyone worries sometimes, but, just to give you an example of me as one person with diabetes - the only one of those symptoms I had was frequent urination. No tingling, no headaches, no lightheadedness.

So I'm not sure why you think you might have diabetes from your symptoms, but certainly an overall health check would put your mind at rest - about diabetes and any other health conditions you're worried you might have.

Only a doctor can diagnose diabetes, so if you're continuing to have concerns, please do see one and request that that's checked and the result is explained to you as that could reassure you that all was well with your blood sugar.
