Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.3 this morning. :D:D:D It could be a yo-yo week with bg. The baffling news is, in two weeks my accurate scales say I have put on 6lbs (3 kilos). I'm upset because I don't know how that has happened :arghh:. I'm not eating enough calories or carbs for this to happen. I've also been playing golf. I think I'll need to do a couple of fasting days in the next week or so :(. Have a good day all! :)
Hi Kim if you have increased your exercise don't forget muscle weighs more that fat. It could be that you have toned up a bit and that's contributed to your weight increase

I hope so. I've only played 3 times and not a full 18 holes either lol. That's quite a lot to put on in a short time. ;)

That's true but unlikely in such a short timescale. If I had to guess I'd wonder about water retention,

Ah! The doctor took me off Indapamide - a diuretic just over a week ago and my BP tablet has been changed from Lisinopril to Losartan. She told me that I did not need the diuretic anymore as my BP was good.

8.5. It's the first time I've had a reading over 8 so I'm upset.:(
I have no idea why it's so high. I have got a very sore throat and was awake with that several times in the night, I don't know if that would make a difference? I'm now in a quandry as to whether I should eat breakfast, or skip it and hope the figure drops quickly.
Please continue eating...it will keep your bs from spiking so much, small nutritious regular meals

I took your advice and ate some scrambled eggs at 10am (tested BG again just before and it was still 8.5). An hour later it was 8.3 and 2 hours later it was 7.8, so eating seemed to bring it down slightly. Or maybe it would have dropped more in that period anyway if I hadn't eaten? It's all very confusing!

Could it be hormonal Kim?

@TooManyCrisps - Hi:). When you are ill you need to test more, drink plenty of sugar free drinks and if you don't feel like eating solid food? (Like me) I just have soup all the time.
There will be times when you will be "baffled" by b.s. readings - like mine this morning 6.8 at 8.45am, but it is not worth the worry. When you worry it causes stress - stress releases Cortisol (hormone) into the blood which elevates blood sugar.:) William.

@Stallen I hope you are feeling tons better.
Thanks @mo53 BG up to 10.8 4hrs after a bowl of low carb soup that I had this morning, I might have the rest of the day as a duvet day, luckily I'm not beholden to an employer, so being my own boss, all be it a poor one it has its benefits on rough days, I've been waiting in on a delivery and i have another delivery after 5:30pm so going to try and sleep it off.

I was trying to think of a "polite" way to put the question but I know that some women have raised bs every month

Great thought, but I've been ok with both. This weight gain is all of a sudden. The only thing that has changed is my stopping of Indapamide a diuretic. I can't see why by stopping it I should gain weight. I only took it for high blood pressure.

@KimG are you making a diary? I know very time consuming but might show some light. I hope you get some answers soon. :)
Thank you ickihun, I keep two diaries. One is my blood sugar diary - I list the foods that affect my bg, and my food diary on myfitnesspal.
