Welcome @gj124 ,

Is your mum a diabetic? on medication ? still feeling ill?

@gj124 - Hello and Welcome to the Forum. When you are ill, your body makes hormones to fight the illness. Those same hormones also raise blood sugars, which is why you need to test your blood sugars more. If you don't feel like eating solid food - you should drink plenty of sugar free fluids, why not try soup. But, you must continue taking your medications. Hope your Mum gets well soon.:)

Hi. It's by no means unusual. We all differ with our individual systems, conditions, meds and diet, but blood sugar does increase generally with an infection, with the wrong kind of bacteria doing its nasty stuff. Dehydration often comes along like a horrible cousin, so keep the fluid intake up. If meds were taken/are still being taken for the bug...that too can have an impact that lasts a week or more..particularly anti-biotics. Hopefully, things will settle down soon. If things are still much higher than usual for a while - see your doctor.
