I have difficulty eating nuts yet they seem to be quite good for snacks etc could anyone recommend how to add nuts to my diet and the best nuts to buy in the uk. Thanks

Nut butters are good, I buy no added sugar 100% nut versions (Meridian ) they do lots of different types including blends.

A spoonful mixed into full fat yogurt in a little double cream is nice.

Macadamia probably has the lowest carbs, but they are very expensive. Hazelnuts, brazils and cashews are relatively cheap in Aldi. I snack in front of the TV, take my partial out when no one can see. Watch the calories with nuts though.

@Viv0147 - You don't have to eat whole nuts. You can also buy them as nut flours and butters - or if you have a coffee grinder you can grind them up yourself. Use the ground nuts for low carb baking - e.g. cookies, muffins, crumble toppings, and even a sort of nut porridge. Have a look in our low carb recipes thread or try a Google search.

Difficulty because of having hard time to bite into them or do they get trapped between dentures and gums?
If it is bite issue....any nut can be given bit of 'hammer' and crushed into finer size and sprinkled onto different dishes.
Rolling pin would be more ideal for job though...but if you don't have one...hammer does the job, just put the nuts into plastic bag, tea towel over and GENTLY give the nuts the hammer treatment..:D

ALSO WORKS IN A FIGHT! OW!!

All nuts are good, but walnuts are also supposed to be good for lowering cholesterol. You can get walnut butter, almond butter, cashew butter and hazelnut butter in most supermarkets or online.
If you have a food processor you could make your own with nuts and a little oil or butter.

Hi, you could try polygrip to secure your denture or dentures.
As for nuts, Walnuts are softer and as prem said, very good for you, I love most types of nuts, my favourites are cashews, pistachio's, peanuts and brazil nuts, but I only eat them occasionally, because they are just too moreish :hungry:

Sugar-free marzipan balls are good for soft, nutty snacks. Very easy to make.
