Always been a fan of Scotch Eggs but avoided recently due to breadcrumbs etc ...

Decided to try one today - no carb content listed as they are an 'artisan' brand in our local Budgen :)

So before eating BG 5.1, one hour later 4.9, two hours later 3.9 .... I have been working on the garden since eating it. Now thinking I'll see what the scores are at 3 hours - by which time it will be dinner time.

So no need to make Low carb Scotch eggs, I can (hopefully) enjoy the right thing. Shows how important testing is!

That's brilliant. :)

I was delighted last week on holiday to find I can eat ice creams (no cornets). Virtually no effect at all, and I was wearing a Libre sensor to confirm matters.

As a guide the Tesco Scotch Eggs we buy have around 17g of carbs.

Ooh I do love a scotch egg! Maybe I'll try one from the deli counter at the farm shop and see what happens:p

I've been eating them for a while now with negligible affect on my BG.

I usually get the better quality ones with better coatings, I dread to think what is in the bright orange cheap versions

That's great. I love them but haven't touched them for 8 weeks or so.

We have Budgen's in Cambridge:)

Diagnosed 13/4/16: T2, no meds, HbA1c 53, FBG 12.6, Trigs 3.6, HDL .75, LDL 4.0, BP 169/95, 13st 8lbs, waist 34" (2012 - 17st 7lbs, w 42").

6/6/16: FBG AV 4.6, Trigs 1.5, HDL 2.0, LDL 3.0, BP 112/68, BPM 66, 11st 11lbs, waist 30".

Regime: 20g LCHF, run 1 mile daily, weekly fasting.

I used to get the Happy Eggs ones, but I haven't seen them in ages. Won't buy them unless I know the chickens have decent lives, which rather reduces the brands available...

Scotch Eggs are even nicer with mayo, which helps slow the carb dump, if there is one...

I feel I am leading you astray @KevinPotts :) first ice cream, now Scotch eggs ... just you wait until my low carb Beer arrives and I test that (obviously just for research for the forum!)

Am wondering about a carb dump later, or would it have passed - or is it different for everyone? Good LCHF dinner so guess I'll known with tomorrow's FBG ...!

I have had a delivery of Marstons Resolution, its drinkable, even though its 4.7% abv it lacks body, but the days of drinking pints of Copper Top are gone sadly

.
But how about happy pigs? I've not yet seen any scotch egg that is made with free-range pork, factory-reared pigs are even more tragic than chickens, they're so intelligent it's terrible.

Mm, don't dissapoint me before I try it!! I want to take it to France in August for when tI've walked back from the beach to the campsite, it's a hot day and the thing I really need is a nice cold beer!

The pork used for happy scotch eggs was happy too. From what I remember. But it must be 18 months ago that I read the packaging. Don't even know if they are still produced, because I haven't seen them for ages.
