Hi I was wondering what everyone take when you go away for there diabetes we due to go.away soon and I think I covered everything just want to.double check and make sure I not forgot any thing thanks

To keep my insulin cool I use a Frio pouch. The small one holds two pens and a couple of catridges. The big one can hold 20ish cartridges.

Off the top of my head, for a 2 week holiday I'll bring (all in my hand luggage)

- Prescription
- 10 cartridges of Novorapid (5 in my hand luggage and 5 in my partner's)
- 10 cartridges of Levemir (5 in my hand luggage and 5 in my partner's)
- x200 test strips split 50:50
- 150 pen needles split 50:50
- Small Frio pouch
- Large Frio pouch
- Sweets a-plenty for hand luggage and a couple packs of glucose tablets in cabin luggage
- Needle clipper thingy
- Tupperware box in cabin luggage for clipped needles
- Ketone testing strips

I can't think of much else diabetes-related.........

EDIT...yes I can! A spare Novopen Echo!

Wow - 10 cartridges of each insulin for 2 weeks? How much do you typically inject? I take enough needles for 1 per day plus contingency spares. BTW you didn't include the meter itself.

Haha yes, I would bring two Accu Check mobiles split between me and my partner.

I split the insulin to cover for losses as I said so really it's 5 carts which I don't think is at all unreasonable. I'll probably only get through one or two but I like to have a lot of spares (obviously).

After all, it's easy to drop cartridges and crack them or crack the thin glass at the end with the rubber stopper when removing them from the packaging.

I'd hate to have to have all the hassle and lost time of trying to source my insulin on some tiny Greek island or something when I could just be properly prepared.
