Type 2 high readings in a morning

why are my sugar levals high in a morning it was 8.9 at 9 pm last night then had nothing to eat got up at 6.30 this morning and it was 12.4 any ideas.

You may want to do a search on the forum posts for Dawn Phenomenon and/or DP and/or somogyi effect, which is, in short, where the body increases growth hormones and the liver dumps glucogon in the early hours to prepare itself for the day ahead. It can also depend on what you ate last night, as some foods take many hours to digest and process, so may not have completed by the time you tested.

will look on there but i had half a jacket potato with very lean mine beefand onion not a large portion and that was at 5pm
 
I can't find anything on the dawn phenomenon or somogi effect can anyone tell me where to find info

Because all the glykogen stored in your liver are released to the bloodstream while you sleep. (The body empty it's glykogen storage).
