Hi hi I hi I had high readings like you too and i was put on this as well. It did not bring down my blood sugars enough so they put me on a third diabetes tablet which now after 2 years has brought them down to only 7 now. Hope this is of some help to you.

@Davec2802 if you need insulin then it will be best to help it out.
I'm on insulin and no high bgs like that even after naughty ice cream.
If you end up on insulin and find later it needs reducing you will find many supporters. Me included. Only if your insulin resistant. If however your pancreas is dying then your body will need insulin for life.
To be honest I'd be no use to anyone without it's help.
Metformin has given me my healthy hormones back and insulin has given me my life back.
You must be sooooo tired on those high readings. I used to get exhaustion and need time off work. No social life either. Exhausted.

Just spoke to my diabetic nurse and they have upped my dosage to 100mg of sitagliprin. I also have to make a appointment to have my bloods done and to see her in 2-3 weeks.

Mostly eat cereals and then at lunch a sandwich and a cereal bar. Dinner can range from salmon to beef or chicken.

Consider switching to nuts, cheese, avocado etc. Cereals and sandwiches tends to spike insulin/glucose levels.

Hi, I take sitagliptin. It is an inhibitor and reduces the glucagon because it raises the insulin. So it should start bringing your blood glucose levels down.
I take it to reduce my spike!
As I have intolerance to a lot of foods.
I think the reason why you are so high is the amount of cereal or wheat carbs you are having at the moment.
Find less carby foods and that will help with your blood glucose levels.

What do you have with the protein?

I take 100gms of the meds, I had to up them because a lower dosage had little or no effect, if you want more info on the dpp4 inhibitor, Google it on Wikipedia.
Then you know what to look for if you get some side effects, but I don't!
Best wishes and good luck on your tests.
