blood sugars

Hi and welcome. A figure of 9 is much better so well done. In general you should be below 8.5 around 2 hours after a meal with an average less than that so your sugar needs to go down a little bit further. I assume you have reduced the carbs and perhaps on some meds?

@drewster45 - Tell us a bit more information. What medication are you taking for Diabetes if any? Also was the 9 your morning fasting? And are you testing before and after meals?

morning test fasting and i take 3 metformin a day

It is a bit high for fasting, but much better than you were, so well done. You should be aiming to be under 7 in a morning, but part of it may be Dawn Phenomenon ( liver dump) which is beyond our control mostly. If you test before you go to bed and look at the difference, it may tell you if you are getting a liver dump.

@drewster45 - I see from your profile you were only diagnosed in May this year. But, you have done well to get to get to 9. Metformin can take up to a couple of months to build up in your system to reach it's full effect, Diet and Exercise will have more effect on lowering blood sugars. And drink plenty of water and/or sugar free liquids. @Bluetit1802 is right about the Dawn Phenomenon = your Liver is dumping stored glucose into your blood stream on waking to boost your energy. A lot of Diabetics can experience this first thing on a morning. :)
