Following the low carb diet , and the guidance of other forum guiders, I have successfully lost 13 kg (so far) in the 10 weeks. Based on thisI visited the GP to give him the good news that my BG's were all in the normal range most of the time, that my high blood pressure was normal most of the time (apart from a few light-headed episodes lasting seconds), my stools were no longer "sludge" but Bristol 1 candidates,. He attributed the light headedness to an excess (now) of blood pressure and stopped my Indapamide 2.5 mg leaving the Losartan and Amiodipine. The plan is to attend my Hb1Ac on the 16th August and review the results, when he wants me to reduce my Gliclazide 160mg down to 80 mg (Hooray- this is my weight increaser) and then take another Hb1Ac in a few weeks to compare the results.Further more, I have found the"low carb" (less than 20 carbs) diet so easy, I am going to continue it for at least another 10 weeks to see how low I can get my weight to reduce now that I can reduce the gliclazide. I wanted to reduce the 2000 mg of Metformin also, but he advised against that as it HELPS weight loss, so I will take his advice. Simple message to any falterers or doubters- "Keep your chin up! I have been working on a hurry slowly principle where the losses do not leave me with a "saggy" anything. So far I have only improved in appearrance with no negatives to report.
