Blood test result

I would avoid bananas if it were me, they are very high in sugar. I would eat a few berries sprinkled in full fat yogurt.

I do not know if you can eat pears or grapes, I can't. You would have to eat them and then test your blood sugar at 1 and 2 hours and see what happens. Generally berries do not spike people as they are high in fibre and water and lower in sugars. You will not starve, google lists of low carb foods and check out threads on here like What did you eat for breakfast. There is a low carb section as well. Have a good read of daisy1's information. You will be fine.

Its perfectly normal to feel overwhelmed and down, this is a huge big deal at first, it does get easier with time. Give yourself a break and take it one day at a time, we were all where you are now.;)

Thanks for your help and advice I'm going back to my GP in the morning and demand better support and advice

A word of advice if you plan on demanding...

Go in easy and try not to mention the "Internet". Depending on what mood your GP is in they may come across stand off-ish as in "well if you and Google know better than me then do it yourself". If after a democratic approach he/she is no help then get the war paint on:)

I need need to start and think about what I eat . I often have a breakfast made up of banana pear grapes blueberries and grapes . What fruits do I need to avoid ?
Grapes and bananas are pretty high in sugars/carbs...I'm new to this way of life too but I tend to only eat berries and in moderation at that as am desperately trying to get my sugars down!

Erm.... bananas, pears and grapes. Bananas are bit high in carbs, and some find grapes are to sweet. But I've read an article that would suggest that the enzymes in grapes can help diabetics. As always, the advice should be, eat small amounts and test yourself to see what the effect is.

Berries are generally better for us.

So I guess I need to think about buying a meter ? Any suggestions ? How do you use them ? I
As already suggested, the CodeFree - due to it's affordable test strip cost. This is pretty much the meter of choice for type 2 diabetics funding their own strips.

All instructions on how to use it will be contained within and you will find numerous videos on YouTube (and maybe even the manufacturer's site) if you so wish to see a BG monitor being used.

Melon is 9g for 100g.. I got a melon baller and weighed and counted how many balls I wanted...then weighed them.
When I can eat I know that 3 teaspoons of my Rachels ginger yogurt and my melon balls are 18.5g of carbs...

So it really depends on how many balls and carbs you are wanting...

My levels (T1) though peak at 1 hour 10 minutes after I eat them so I have to ensure I give my injection a lot early..but at ywo hours after eating levels are back to 5.0. I am T1 though.
