Insulin Injections

Can anyone advise me, My husband is Type 2 diabetic and also has a lot of other medical problems. Does anyone know of a good insulin product that he can use that doesn;t require him to press down like pens or clock/ Because of his other medical problems he is losing the feeling in his hands and despite telling the doctors of this problem. They keep giving him these products that require him to press down. using his fingers. He is so fed up now of people not listening to him and giving him products that unsuitable/

Any help please.
 
Hi. I'm not aware of anything other than pump which as a T2 he is unlikely to be offered. Has your husband adopted a low-carb diet as this will help control weight and blood sugar? I don't know what his other conditions are but constant high blood sugar can cause nerve damage and a low-carb diet is essential plus medications appropriate.

Has your husband been prescribed insulin?
I notice by "your" profile the treatment is metformin.. (Which I assume is for yer hubby?)

The only way to drive that insulin "home" to my knowledge, I'm afraid is a pen or syringe..
Unless eligible for a pump.. But there are still buttons to press on an insulin pump control device....
 
Hi thank you for your replies, hes got Cancer , Ankylosing spondylitis (which is the reason he has the loss of feeling and a few other problems.) . Will speak to doctors again see if we can get some sort of helpx
 
that's a tricky one... I hope your hubby's docs have some way of solving this problem. If he has been prescribed insulin then maybe the docs can try and get him onto a pump for medical reasons. I'm on multiple daily injections myself, but I know it's quite difficult where I live to get on to a pump. I'm not sure why though as I don't have a choice about being on insulin just like T1's don't have a choice. If injections stop working for me I know I will be pushing for the pump as well. I hope you can get a good outcome. Sorry to hear your hubby is struggling. :( It would be hard for sure as pretty much all of our diabetes management is done by hand. Even with the pump you'd have to use our hands too.

ty Mep we are gonna go back to them n say please if you want him to control it then give us something he can use, he's a stubborn man wont let anyone else inject him either.

Yes please try and see what can be done... if there is no other option but to inject, he will probably have to stop being stubborn and allow someone else to do it for him. We don't always get a choice with things unfortunately. I feel for him though as it is hard... I personally have some physical limitations myself so I know how hard it is to admit I can't do something. I try and do things myself all the time. But sometimes I just have to be honest too and admit I can't do something. Eg. if my voice isn't working at all I have no choice but to type or text if I need to contact someone as it doesn't matter how much I try I'm not going to be able to speak (I've got voice disorders and they're unpredictable). The only other way I can think of to get insulin into him is via IV... but you'd have to be hospital for that I think. Let us know how you go.
