Type 2 Life

@ellagy - Good for you Jaki - enjoy it. At least I tried! :D Have a lovely evening I am off for my evening meal.:)
Ellagy - When I read you've been taking Methotrexate, it made me think of one of our members, @poshtotty who used to take it, and had the most fabulous outcomes from eating a low carb diet. She started a thread about it, here: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/my-life-since-discovering-lchf.66929/ . It makes a great read, and hopefully could help you along.

(Hope you're well, Ms Posh.)

Thank you AndBreathe that was a very good post, makes you wonder doesn't it?

I think it probably illustrates (to me), to a degree anyway, how complex our bodies seem to be, and goes some way to suggest we need to look at the bigger picture. But stunning outcomes for MsPosh, I hope you'll agree?

I certainly do!

thank you dear Liam... I am still new to all this , and there is so much to learn, my main speculations is about if high fat would be healthy in the long run..... this is a riddle I´d like so solve before i through myself into lchf-diet.

I do manage okay actually right now lost 3Stones and tomorrow going to get my first HbAc1 since I took control myself over my blood glucose... I am very optimistic as my blood glucose has only twice been over the 7mmol area and mostly 6 or below

I have started doing fitnees after I lost the first 12 kg , and doing fine there too... today burnt 904 calories ...so a bit proud of myself.... just sad I had to become diabetic before I took my Health seriously and forced myself to Loose weight...

I´ll return with some questions when something is to strange or troublesome...

also I am in a Lucky position that I do not Work and have plenty of time to do fitness and take long walks most everyday it is much harder for people with far too much Work and obligations
@Freema I know @Robbity experimented with extra fat in the lchf diet. Im unsure how that concluded and the affects on cholesterol? Maybe @Robbity can update us?

I received tips from @Kristin251 and it helped hugely in making the right choices in lchf and I've been able to reduce my thyroid med as a result of lchf. Some people call it low carb healthy fat!
Please have a rummage around these forums as there is loads if info held within. Search button is great.
Making a new thread in Ask a Question puts it out there for all members to assist with individual experience. Which I feel is more in keeping with reality and not chery picked diabetics.
We are all different so you will see some variants which one or a few could be ideal for you and your life.
Like I was reminded yesterday, some posters can try and push their preferences on you but ultimately it's what works for you.
Some of us have tried different recommendations and not worked or worked fantastically. Success stories proves that.
If you have no other metabolic disorders lchf has fantastic success in losing weight. Even me who has other medical problems I get lower bgs on lchf and assistance with taking less thyroid med. I unfortunately dont lose weight because of conflicting metabolic disorders. However now I have reduced my levothyroxine and restarted metformin for pcos I am about to try a 30-50g carb diet again. I might lose weight!

Yes, I'm well, thank you AB. Thanks for the mention.

In the last 6 months I've had a couple of new physical challenges - a meniscus tear in my knee and a rotator cuff muscle injury which made me feel a tad wretched for a while and limited my physical activity but curiously both have healed themselves within 6 months without medical intervention. This confirms to me that my body is receiving the right nutrients to repair itself. I no longer take supplements, but will take Vit D through the winter again.

Incidentally, I had the results of my Vit D and B12 bloods last week and both good. The nurse said she hadn't seen such healthy results in years!

Wishing you well, @ellagy. Its a brave move, but it can work. Even the consultants are admitting that a change in diet can be helpful in improving RA symptoms although they still push the drugs!

Nice to hear from you MsPosh.

Meniscus and rotator cuff issues? Have you taken up gymnastics or weight lifting? I've experienced injuries in both areas, so appreciate how uncomfortable and inconvenient they are.

I must say I thought of you a few months ago when I did some reading on stem cell treatment for arthritis and joint repair. I know a small handful of snow bird who have had it, mainly in the States, although it's also available in the Netherlands now, with the UK looking at it. It appears to be very safe, far cheaper than joint replacement and using our own stem cells means rejection is highly unlikely and recover times negligible.

The following link is just one (commercial) site describing it, but I think it's described in terms that enable grasping the essence of it. http://stemcellarts.com/commonly-tr...cell-therapy-for-knee-injuries-and-arthritis/ There are loads of links available if you fancy more in depth info.

Unless we're going to spend our own pocket money, it is still a little time away on the UK, but it's good to know what's probably on the horizon when we have these old war wounds aching in winter.

I'm wondering how @KimG is getting on? Miss you.
@loulou99782 too. How are you both?
Louise was very very ill. I lost contact with her some months ago.
It's upsetting when I think of such wonderful people being missed.
@KimG and @loulou99782 I hope reconnects soon. ♡♥♡

Hey have been to my diabetic nurse today and got my first HbAc1 (44 ) after diagnosis and change of diet It was a bit higher than I thought it would be so well it is okay But then I can see it will become more difficult to get it down to 35 as I'd like it to be.

On the other hand my cholesterol has com down to totally 4,3 and my LDL was normal so very happy. Then my doctor will NOT keep presuring me to take statins ....

Well Done @Freema - That is a brilliant result of your Cholesterol at 4.3 and your HBA1C at 44 this puts you in the category of Prediabetic.
Categories:
Normal. - Below. 42 mmol.
Prediabetic. - 42 to 47 mmol.
Diabetic. - 48 mmol and over.

Great cholesterol and great reduction in HbA1c. Remember HbA1c is an average over the last 3 months, so from mid June to mid September, although weighted towards the last month, So as you say in your signature you had a reading of 17.5 in July that would still be relevant for this HbA1c. I'm sure your next HbA1c will be a lot more representative of your present readings as long as you keep going. Well done and keep it up.

Thanks Hiitsme and Liam yes I am happy my doctor told me before that it would be impossible for me to get my cholesterol down in normal area And I have proved her wrong . At my hospital course of diabetic food They told me it was impossible to Loose weight on metformine ,but already Then I had lost 14 kg , so happy noone told me that before I even tried

From what you've just posted Liam it seems I was 'normal' for my last hba1c tho I certainly don't feel normal recently, quite down & depressed, my last hba1c said 3.3 cholestrol. 0.7 tryclicerite. & 41mmol, being tested again in couple of weeks & I certainly know it's not that anymore! Been bit naughty @ freema. Congratulations well done ! Love the avatar but frefered your pic
