Hi I'm looking for some guidance if possible. I've read a number of posts on here and this seems like a great community.
I went to my local Lloyds pharmacy around 3 weeks ago and had a random blood test done to check for diabetes as I felt I was passing a lot of urine and getting hunger pangs for no reason though I have lost 3st in weight since May through cutting alcohol and taking up running and eating healthily. I put the urination down to the fact I was drinking 2 litres or more of water per day and nothing else.
Result came back at 8.4 so I was asked to do a fasting period of 9-13 hours overnight and come back the next morning. I went back and the fasted reading was 7.1 so the pharmacist referred me to my GP.
The GP did a full blood count and also another fastest blood test as I was still Within the 13 hour period. The GP result was 5.1 and full blood count showed all organs such as pancreas kidney and liver etc were all working fine. She therefore told me I didn't have diabetes and I went on my way. This was 10 days ago.
I was with the GP surgery today (different doctor) and mentioned I'd had the all clear but was hungry a lot of the time and she noticed her colleague hadn't done a hpac1 test and so they took bloods and sent them off.
I'm quite anxious about this now as I'm going on a family holiday Friday and the results won't be back before I go.
I suffer with health anxiety as a side and have high blood pressure and read that these can both affect blood sugar readings and so I'm not sure if the hunger and weight loss is associated with that as I don't appear to have any other diabetes symptoms having looked at the 8 sign checker
Any guidance would be appreciated as this is all new to me and I don't know if I'm worrying about nothing or need to prepare to change my lifestyle even more.
My wife has told me to forget it until after the holiday and enjoy the family time and the indulgence as I can't do anything about it until we get back but it's weighing on my mind.
Thanks in advance for any feedback
Paul
