Type of diabetes
Type 2
hi all, I was told I had type two in may this year, when I had finger prick test it was 24.6 my hba came back at 126,6, I started metformin and one 40mg a day gliclazide, 3 months later my hba test came back at 47, was just told to carry on doing what I was doing, last Friday I had a very bad turn at the gym , vomiting , hands tingling , very very dizzy , I was taken into hospital for the night, they are still unsure what this was, went to my gp , who did an other hba test today she rang me to say it was only 37 and to stop taking the gliclazide, I still feel unwell although no where near like I was , does this mean I am still type 2 !! its all very confusing , any suggestions .

I think once you are diabetic then you will always be so - but you can be in remission.
I had similar, but not so bad symptoms after eating very low carb for about ten days - the ten days after diagnosis. I think it was my broken metabolism unable to start ketosis again fast enough to keep me stable. I am only on Metformin, so I suspect it was the extra drug you were on which caused the problem now you are 'on the mend'. Now I am on day 15 and I feel like a new woman. Just keep on following the regime you are on and hopefully you will not have any more trouble.

it is hard to say... what did you actually do to lower your blood glucose ?

I did a 40min workout in the gym, mainly all floor excercises, no body as said I had an hypo
You may have pushed yourself too hard resulting in the nausea, etc. The chances of this being true would be increased if you are overweight also.

It may well have been a hypo, as Glicazide can cause that. However, unless you had your BG tested when the symptoms first presented - you'll never know.
