Can't control sugar levels after sickness bug

it can if we are talking of the collected amount of calories which contains of proteins, carbohydrates and fats , those 3 together makes 100% of calories, water doesn´t count

Energy 371 kJ (89 kcal)
Carbohydrates 22.84 g
Fat 0.33 g
Protein 1.09 g

carbs+ proteins+fat = 100% of energy intake
Sorry - I really don't follow what you are trying to get across - if someone eats 100gm of banana then they will have 20 gm of carbohydrates, which they will convert into sugar and absorb into their bloodstream - the fibre although counted as a carbohydrate is of little consequence, nor is any other food group. Banana is a high carb food in my opinion. I stick to under 10 percent carbs normally, and am normally very healthy but when ill the banana will be quite a hit to the metabolism.

my point is really only to tell that what is the best way of valuing a food is to look at the ratio between carbs-fats and proteins... when it comes to eating low carbs that is.. but this is really not what this threat is about

Made an omelette for him he did eat it but now the diarrhoea has returned!
Until the infection is overcome he will not return to normal, he should eat small amounts of low carb food - the germs will not like low carb foods as much as sugary ones. Keep an eye on his fluid intake, as it is easy to get dehydrated with an upset stomach. I had winter vomiting sickness after visiting a relative in hospital - that is really nasty.

No - when it comes to eating low carb, it is the carbs which count. They count even more when someone is ill. Bugs love sugar.

yes of cause it is the carbs that counts.. the total amount of carbs

but it also matters how fast the foods spike when one has diabetes , and banana is a high spiking fruit..

so yes banana is very good for people that are too low in blood glucose number
