I'm sat here in my staff room looking at my lunch and thinking holy **** this is gonna be a big injection I think my highest fast acting injection was 16 for a chip shop dinner but this lunch is gonna creep up there with that, home made soup 35g rolls 30g each, gingerbread man 45g and I also ate some crisps while I was waiting for my soup... BG was 3.4 so it won't need to be AS big, but I'm looking at a 14 unit injection... for lunch :S oops. How about you guys??

I have put in huge amounts of insulin compared to your numbers......

for example a whole pizza to myself....this is about 120 - 150g of carbs......

i try limit these occasions of course....lol...

Probably 10-12u over an extended period for a high-carb/high-fat meal.

Usually with such meals I can keep the bolus dose low by including exercise, but for most meals (those with carbs, fat & protein in moderation) my bolus dose averages around 5-6 units, this morning my breakfast was 4.75u and lunch was 6.25.

waiting for an insulin dependant T2 with insulin resistance to come along and blow your socks off!

Max dose I would have had back in the dark and distant past would be around 22u for a 110g lunch + any correction needed....mind you I found that anything near or above the 100g carb mark tend to actually require slightly less insulin, an oddity that was backed up by my DSN when I questioned what she thought was going on when I always seemed to dip low later.

What's your ratio? I'm on 10-1 atm, but it's going well (for now...)

Lol, no.....But I have several insulin/carb ratios.....

The morning when waking I need more insulin for every 10g of carbs....

Lunchtime is different too...

Max dose for me when i was injecting would have been 49 units, can't remember what it was for but i do remember reducing some of my carbs as i believe my meter maxed out on it.

Since being on a pump my insulin requirements have been reduced significantly.

Okay, I have Type 2 and only take a basal injection and metformin, but I take 40 units of Lantus every day-(and vary my metformin amount for very carby meals). I do not think I have eaten that many carbs at one meal-wait a minute-there was the Christmas cookie incident-my mind boggeld at counting them so I ate then took two metformin, my Lantus 42 units two hours early, the next mornings metformin and walked for an hour briskly, I ended up with 10.4 three hours later and was very grateful. I was at 6.9 by the late morning.

Mine is 22 units of humalog after a disastrous pizza and ice cream experiment :-( I still needed another 12 units 1 hour later to get me level.

My ratio is 10g - 5u

100g of carbs and I inject 50 units (with + or - correction dose)

Recently re diagnosed from T2 to T1
