The head pain I had was so severe it affected my vision, no drugs would clear it and simply made me 'fuzzy'. Watching TV or reading was out, and bright lights a nightmare.
You need to make a decision and alter your path in life. Either stay as you are with the pain and suffering with your current poor lifestyle.

Get a grip on your diabetes; it's a manageable condition if you accept the help and advice of those around you. Don't let it rule your life, simply be aware of its limitations and work within those confines. Once you have mastered the carb counting and how they affect you, it is simple to try out different foods to see how they affect YOU.
Everyone is different and what works for some may not apply to everyone else.
As time goes on and you are more familiar with the inner workings of your body, you can push the boundaries more to see what works and what doesn't. However, you need to have a baseline to return to if you get in a mess, so keep a diary of what you eat and how it affects you. Equally, if ill, make a note of this too and how any medication has affected your sugars.
Test frequently and you will quickly build up a knowledge base, your diary will become an invaluable tool, and you can take it to any GP/hospital appointment so they can easily see how you've been doing.
We can all give you advice and support, but it is always going to be up to you to change/accept it.
