STILL ALIVE!! Dr Bernstein...wow

Indeed, I'm hoping it works for my daughter. Diagnosed at only 4 she's got (hopefully!) a long and healthy life with t1 ahead of her.

Even more hopefully a cure before she's much older @CathP I remain optimistic :)

Dr B is dedicated to his management @jonniey If you read his book, you'll see the detail he puts in to his insulin injections and insulin choices. He also has information about his exercise regime. He's very focussed.

Sad too hear, 4 is so young but I wish all the best for her.....God bless!! I've had type 1 for almost 9 years it's terrible!

Yes I've had poor poor control for most of the 9 years and I really regret because I have terrible pain in my head everyday.... especially when my sugar is high and it just lingers struggling to reverse it. If it's even possible

I've been diabetic for 13year... during the pregnancy of my second daughter (who is now 7) I was told it had gone to type1. I've also struggled with control for many years but there's loads of useful info on here to help and hopefully we will get better at managing things... definitely going to try this lchf diet, tried it a couple years back and it really helped me lose weight... but then I fell off the low carb wagon and put all the weight back on. But onwards and upwards...we'll get there if we stay determined.

But dr Bernstein really inspires me he lived so long with this terrible disease....but the pain I feel really discourages me.

Sugars mainly 15 or above....I drink little or no water.....I mainly drink diet coke 2 to 4 litres a day. and 3 litres or more, beer a day.

This is probably the cause of your headaches, you need to get control of your diabetes and stop drinking beer & coke... drink water! Also make an appointment with your DSN.

@jonniey

Your pain issues is most likely due to your high sugars. When mine were in my high teens, I was rushed into hospital for a suspect head tumour due to the intense pain. However, on managing to get the sugars back down, (and stay down) the pain went altogether. Both beer and coke have a lot of hidden sugar - you need to reduce / eliminate and drink water (I realise this would be a difficult switch for you). Try water with ice and lemon if you find plain water too boring).
Since going LCHF I've had no head pains and a 'clear head' all the time.

I think the drink is the main problem with your high BG level and headache I do not know if you are drinking diet coke but just the sugar in the beer alone is not doing you any favours and will give you high BG levels. You need to decide what is going make things better cutting the beer and coke or continue with the high BG and headaches and a miserable life only you can change it

What really so you saying that the pain can be reversed?? So I shouldn't yet give Up on life thinking and feeling like I'm going to die??. ..... because that's how bad the pain is......can you maybe describe how your head pain felt??

The head pain I had was so severe it affected my vision, no drugs would clear it and simply made me 'fuzzy'. Watching TV or reading was out, and bright lights a nightmare.

You need to make a decision and alter your path in life. Either stay as you are with the pain and suffering with your current poor lifestyle.

OR

Get a grip on your diabetes; it's a manageable condition if you accept the help and advice of those around you. Don't let it rule your life, simply be aware of its limitations and work within those confines. Once you have mastered the carb counting and how they affect you, it is simple to try out different foods to see how they affect YOU.
Everyone is different and what works for some may not apply to everyone else.

As time goes on and you are more familiar with the inner workings of your body, you can push the boundaries more to see what works and what doesn't. However, you need to have a baseline to return to if you get in a mess, so keep a diary of what you eat and how it affects you. Equally, if ill, make a note of this too and how any medication has affected your sugars.
Test frequently and you will quickly build up a knowledge base, your diary will become an invaluable tool, and you can take it to any GP/hospital appointment so they can easily see how you've been doing.

We can all give you advice and support, but it is always going to be up to you to change/accept it.
