I have a uti, he said there's e.coli?

So I have a bad infection in my kidney due to a UTI, the doctor mentioned something about having e.coli... it's my own fault I wasn't listening properly, I was just so ill and could focus.
Anyone had this before?
 
E coli is a bacteria.
 
It can be found in soil and poo too. Can cause food poisoning and illness

It comes from your gut @Chloesnavy Its a very common cause of UTIs. It's one of our gut bacteria that helps with digestion. Sometimes they can cause illness. Diakat was right and that can help explain the way it gets into the urinary system from the bowel...

I know it isn't that haha, I think I know what it is anyway. I drank lots of rum about two weeks ago and ever since I've been slowly feeling worse. Happens every time I drink a lot of alcohol. It fucks my kidneys up. Think I'll be staying off alcohol for s while

Ok thank you. I think it's alcohol that's caused all this. There's been a lot of times in my life where my kidney has hurt after drinking a lot. Two weeks ago I drank quite a lot of rum and I've felt ill ever since. :/ staying away from alcohol now I think

Yes, many people find that too much alcohol can make things worse if you're prone to UTIs or cystitis.

E coli is a very common cause of UTIs :)
