Good morning another question (my apologies)as you know I received my first 3 months assesment results when I phoned up for them,am I entitled to get a print out copy of them at my doctors,:)

I don't know about entitled, that seems the wrong approach, but if you ask nicely they usually oblige at our surgery. One has to appreciate how pressured they are and what other necessary stuff has to be dealt with as a priority. regards Derek

I believe you have a right to get a copy of your results... if you ask for it.. don´t know if you must pay for the print, as you can maybe go online and see the results as well which is time saving for your clinique / GP

If you register at your practice for online services you should have access to your summary care record which should include your test results. You can also order repeat scripts and book appts through this method and it keeps the phone lines free for more urgent calls. Allove practices are required to offer this

Hi Derek I am a priority and I always treat everyone with respect and civility;),and I have my printout ,if only I could understand it:)

Post a copy of it on here there are some very clued up forum members that can explain it to you as they did for me recently

Thank you @connie104 my friend much appreciated:)

Hi Wiseowl, you are just in the diabetic range at an hba1c of 50, the threshold is 48 , the threshold of prediabetes is 42. Your triglycerides at 0.6 are very good but your hdl is on the low side at 1.2 the other lipids are OK, do you take statins? The hdl will go up nearer the ideal with a low carb diet. Hba1c measures a sort of average blood glucose over the last 12 weeks, so you must peak somewhat after carbs. So if you put all peaks in all the lows hba1c is the equivalent flat result! In other words you can't be naughty for 11 weeks and be good the last week before the test! :) ;)

@lindisfel I can assure you that I have stuck rigidily to my moderately low carb diet,I have not been naughty at all ,as for my test results I am proud of what I have acheived over the last 12 weeks with the help of all the members here, their advice and knowledge has been tremendous ,;) :)

I think sometimes the medical professionask asked to much of us,my cholesterol is 3.7 down from 3.8 to say " but your hdl is on the low side at 1.2" My test results read Normal and /Satisfactory and Normal. that will do for me,I am more than happy with my progress up to now:)

As you say, your cholesterol and breakdown are all in the normal range as laid down by the national guidelines.
The higher the HDL the better.
The current thinking is that total cholesterol is fairly meaningless. It is the HDL, LDL and triglycerides that matter, and importantly, the ratios. Yours are OK.
