Hi I've joined on behalf of my dad, he's 85 and for the past 10 months has regular bouts of sudden vomiting with only 5seconds warning, blood sugars reading normally between 6-9
After vomiting he lays in the floor for half hour or so we can't move him, he has blocked arteries after silent heart attack 10 years ago, these episodes are happening every 3 weeks or so just lately, can anyone help? Please.

Welcome @T2ree

What does his Dr say is causing the vomiting?

Hi @T2ree How horrible for your dad!

I presume he's seen a doctor to rule out any non-diabetic causes?

Hi thanks for replying, he's been taken to hospital, then we went to see his diabetic nurse, he's yet told me he hardly ever changes his needles.

They don't know, all they said was it's because he's getting old

I wouldn't be happy with that explanation, is it possible that your father could go back and see another Dr?

Personally if it were my parent I would be pushing for a referral over to the gastro clinic.

Hi, my dad is 93 ( non diabetic) and he doesn't vomit ( unless he was ill) so not a lot of proper care and support then !
Your dad's condition needs investigating and a proper diagnosis, a second opinion would be very beneficial too, as it must be awful for him and you as well.
With best wishes.
ps I had sudden vomiting pre-coeliac diagnosis

I wouldn't be happy with that explanation either. There must be some cause. Not all older people vomit like that, so it can't just be old age.

Could you ask for a second opinion?
