World Heart Federation President " Increase in Carbohydrate intake increases risk of CVD"

I'm still a bit confused about the difference between the types of saturated fat. Are they all equally good?

I choose to eat 25g brazil nuts, and possibly the same in walnuts, each day, as a source of fats. I'm struggling to add anymore, are these good sources?

30g of Brazil nuts are 1g carb, 4g protein, 20g fat (5g sat vat)
30g walnuts are 1g, carbs, 4g protein, 21g fat (2g sat fat)

I get my fats mainly from eggs, real mayo, full fat yogurt, butter, meat, fish, oily fish (salmon), Lidl HP rolls, and other things I can't remember! I don't like nuts or I would eat them. Others eat a lot of avocado, which I also don't like. There is also olive oil.

right, but i'm still confused as to how the different types of fat are deemed healthy or not. Is it simply everything bar transfats? Some people say vegetable oil is the devil (i don't use it).

I'm still having massive cognitive dissonance eating grilled breakfasts and fried veg for dinner. It's hard to process all the conflicting information.

I couldn't imagine how i could eat more fat without making my food unpalatable and sickly. I'd eat more fish, but oily fish like slamon (especially) are just too expensive.

OK
Have you sat down and analysed your total food intake for one day?
Have a look and see what the breakdown of your food is then you will be able to see your consumption of fats, protein and carbohydrate.
There is no demand to eat a load of extra fat. If you are feeling satiety and are getting enough to eat then you will should be fine.
You seem to be very anxious about eating this way all I can say is if it makes you more anxious then maybe don't do it?

As @BrianTheElder pointed out in his earlier comment. This study was for the general population. Not just for T2D. So for us T2D, it would likely take a lot less than 50% of cal to start being harmful.

In any case his message is clearly that carbs are likely to be more harmful than fats, even saturated fats, where CVD is concerned. That is a significant departure for a mainstream cardiologist. But I am not hopeful that there will be any significant policy changes any time soon. Yes this is not even news for those of us who have been following low carb high fats.

Yes and when People in general are told to eat as little fat as possible their foods will automatically reach a carb level much futher than 50% cause fats are the most calory dense and to substitute that part of your food with either proteins or carbs would mean really a lot more carbs or proteins

Or have a watch of this guy.. ketogenic body builder who is trying a 21 day long 4000 cal per day challenge most of which is coming from fat. He is currently on day 11.

The Keto diet does require you eat a load of extra fat. If you've been following conventional dietary advice then your fat intake is going to dramatically increase. That's part of it. The alternative would be you don't get enough calories for one thing. You might not need to eat as much fat as you did carbs because fats have more calories, but you are still going to need more fats than you were likely previously eating. The alternative is to go undernourised and deprive yourself of energy. I don't think you can judge on the basis of whether you feel sated or not.

I have tried to examine the caloric intake of my diet, which isn't easy to do, and going by the listed calories of the ingredients consumed I make it about 1000 calories! That's extremely low, about 600-800 short of where it needs to be. Is that healthy?

Good Morning. I also struggle to eat sufficient fat and have a similar battle to eat less protein. I have a target that I set for each macronutrient and calories (using 9cals/g for fat, 4cals/g for carbs and proteins and 2cals/g for fibre). I monitor my intake over the day and eat a balancing meal at the end of the day to bring me to target. Yes, I am a bit OCD, but it shows it can be done.

I don't know what else i could eat for more cals. I'd have to eat a pint of mayo with every meal, that's not appealing!

Have you tried coffee with double cream and coconut oil.. I just made mine 490 calories 54g of fat 1.3g of carbs.
That's with 50ml of double cream and 2 teaspoons of coconut oil (30g) I weighed it!
