I'm trying to get my sugars back in control, I'm finding myself hypo up to 3 times a day and it's so exhausting. I've been a bit lazy with monitoring since I started university in September because I've stupidly been putting my education first. Really need to sort myself out before something bad happens. Any tips on getting back in tight control? Feeling pretty rubbish about it all.

why can't everyone get on........
Hey @bri281295
no matter what -- it is important not to beat yourself up -- we all try to put other things than D first at different times in our lives......... the important thing is you can recognise it is happening and want to do something to change the balance.

I would start with basal testing as @mahola suggested.

next -- try and do your best to keep a routine ( hard I know while at uni )
also -- keep records of BG's , food , insulin doses
( this will help you and your care team to see if there are any patterns happening ......)

finally -- be kind to yourself -- the changes you need and want to make won't happen overnight
keep posting:)

all the best

Yeah and take a look at how much bolus you're taking compared to what you're eating. Running around college might be wearing you out too. 3 times/day is too much.

Been kind of ignoring it but now I've realised and had enough of feeling rubbish. Either too low or too high.
Thank you. I need to start recording everything again, I used to, then life got in the way and I never had time to write everything down.

I just got off the phone with my specialist for a similar problem.

She said something about how when you get a low, you're more likely to have lows again soon because the glycogen stores in the muscles are depleted and make it harder for you to get your levels to stay steady.

As was suggested, you need to control whatever variables you can - consistent meal times may not be possible, but consistent meals are. You may have to adjust your carb ratio if your regular doses at meals are taking you too low, especially if the lows are happening 3-4 hours after. That ratio isn't a rule but a guideline.

As an example, my consistent meal is peanut butter toast. I use it as my 'guinea pig' meal, trying to find what the bolus sweet spot is for a before/after measurement. Since I have the same thing in the same portion every single time, I can limit the guesswork when it comes to explaining different results.
