Hello

So my dr just called me out the blue Said he is not sure what type I have now as his colleague was talking about new guidelines . So I need to go hospital for further tests and possible meds ?? He is a great dr to think of me !

What other tests can they do ? I'm worried now

Maybe it is the c-peptide and GAD tests to see if you may be a late onset Type 1. I really can't answer this. There are lots of different types of diabetics.

Perhaps you could ring the surgery and ask which tests he is talking about? He will be writing to the hospital with his thoughts, so maybe you should know what they are. I would in your position. Yes, he sounds like an excellent and caring doctor, stick hold of him.

If its c peptide I'm not going to want them to inject me with glucagon I'm on this diet my bs isn't that bad to be honest

It's great that they're investigating your type @coleyd If it was me, I'd put up with the short term nuisance of the tests as getting the right answer will be very beneficial.

You'd be surprised how many people are misdiagnosed as Type 2, so the fact your doctor is making sure which type you are is great :)

My c peptide test didn't involve being injected with anything! I had to drink a pint of water, skip my insulin, eat a mixed meal (carbs, protein, fat) and collect my urine for analysis. So not even my insulin injection...

That's great to hear. I'm not on meds. Maybe it will be ok then

Fingers crossed. Not sure if the method they used works for all.
As others have said, give them a call and find out what tests they plan.
