Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Thanks. The dietician was a lovely person and agreed with low carb. Said I was doing everything right by testing before and after meals and she doesn't agree that all dieabetics are not given a meter and strips. Have lost a stone since the end of January and feel so much better. Just need my fasting readings to come down slightly and I'll be happy.

Woohoo!! A clever dietician. Lucky girl. A great effort, well done!:joyful:

5.7 at 6.05am - first one under 6 for nearly a week - after (for me) an unusually high 10.5 - 2 hours after dinner last night.

I had blood taken yesterday morning for first Hba1c since diagnosis (amongst other things!) - so fingers crossed. Found out about 3 weeks ago my meter gives averages (yeah helps to read instruction book) and the 7/14/30 day figures have all been in the sixes and sevens - so hope the test will agree

I have just got a new Freestyle Freedom Lite with that feature, it will come in handy for quick reference.

I got the meter as a freebie from the Abbott website here in Australia, it took less than a week to arrive and came yesterday.

Big crowd earlier at the Pathology shop, about ten people waiting when I got there just after 7:30 am. I was out just after 8:00 am and ordering breakfast in the Atrium cafe at the hospital.

That's the meter I've got @Tipetoo - but was given it at first visit to Diabetic Nurse at the Clinic back in mid November. As I'm on insulin and have been told to check and record at least 6 times daily (before and after all meals) was worried about the cost of strips - but being signed up to the NDSS scheme means I only pay $2.60 for 100.

Pathology place at the medical centre I went to doesn't open till 8, but I ended up being number 3 in so not too bad - then home for breakfast.

Hope you're results are as good as I hope mine will be

SN Pathology open at 7:00am here in Bundaberg at the private hospital.

Abbott's have a good service call centre, I was just on the phone asking for the data cable for it. They are sending me one up next week. They speak very good English as well.

Good luck with your blood results as well Sue
