I eat an avocado every day and lots of cheese and full fat yoghurt and Jersey double cream every day I don't think that I have room for any more !!
I was 7.1 before dinner, two hours later I have gone up to 11.1. I don't understand why. I had pork chops for both breakfast and lunch ( I wanted to see what would happen if I had no carbs earlier in the day).
For dinner I had a leek cooked in butter with a dessert spoonful of full fat Philadelphia cheese and a smoked haddock fillet and a coffee with 60ml double cream.
Has anybody got any idea why I would get such an increase? I have been seriously low carb since the end of January and I am starting to think that I am doing something wrong...
Oh yes, they'd been scrubbed just before I tested but maybe I should have washed again and repeated just to be sure. Were your fingers scrupulously clean?
CDO. (= OCD but with the letters in alphabetical order, just as they are meant to be LOL)Oh yes, they'd been scrubbed just before I tested but maybe I should have washed again and repeated just to be sure.

There is a fair amount of dairy in that diet. It can be surprising how the sugars add up. They may be small in each item but combined they may be raising your levels substantially.I was 7.1 before dinner, two hours later I have gone up to 11.1. I don't understand why. No more than 5g carb in that meal, cream is less than 2g per 100ml and philadelphia around 4g in 100. Butter negligible too. There is a fair amount of dairy in that diet. Thanks @ColS and @Jamesuk9. I am sticking to lchf and weighing my protein. I am having an hba1c test on Friday and have an appointment with the nurse on 4th April. I will see what my level is and then work towards lowering it further next time.No more than 5g carb in that meal, cream is less than 2g per 100ml and philadelphia around 4g in 100. I'd guess at too much protein during the day with the pork twice which being protein is slow to metabolise.
My money is on protein stacking and not the tiny amount of carbs in that evening meal.
