And I thought broccoli was bad...

I eat an avocado every day and lots of cheese and full fat yoghurt and Jersey double cream every day I don't think that I have room for any more !!

I was 7.1 before dinner, two hours later I have gone up to 11.1. I don't understand why. I had pork chops for both breakfast and lunch ( I wanted to see what would happen if I had no carbs earlier in the day).
For dinner I had a leek cooked in butter with a dessert spoonful of full fat Philadelphia cheese and a smoked haddock fillet and a coffee with 60ml double cream.
Has anybody got any idea why I would get such an increase? I have been seriously low carb since the end of January and I am starting to think that I am doing something wrong...

Were your fingers scrupulously clean?

That site suggests eating your protein foods first, eggs, choosing greek yoghurt and putting almonds on top although I do rather suspect it is not aimed at putting weight on and most people do not need to increase their protein intake. It is just an interesting story that might have a nugget of helpful advice. I am tending to hoover up random facts and try anything that might be helpful. I really only posted it so people could work out the best protein intake appropriate to themselves and note that protein is only one of the components in the food we eat. So (cut and paste)
To add protein to your salad, top it with any of the foods below. A 100-gram (3.5-oz) serving of these foods will give you the following amounts of protein:
Chicken or turkey breast: 30 grams.
Tuna: 26 grams.
Salmon: 25 grams.
Cheese: 22 grams.
If you’re looking for a good plant-based option, garbanzo beans (chickpeas) are a great choice that provides 15 grams of protein per cup (165 grams)

My problem is the see saw between energy crunch and sleepy. Probably because the main meal of the day is at 7 pm but I am active between 10 and 4. Some days I just stand up at a bench. Today I was wielding the mattock for a couple of hours after taking a series of wheelbarrows for a walkie. https://authoritynutrition.com/14-ways-to-increase-protein-intake/

Oh yes, they'd been scrubbed just before I tested but maybe I should have washed again and repeated just to be sure.
CDO. (= OCD but with the letters in alphabetical order, just as they are meant to be LOL)

You may need to check if whatever soap of other cleansing agent you use contains some sugar. Some of them do.

There is a fair amount of dairy in that diet. It can be surprising how the sugars add up. They may be small in each item but combined they may be raising your levels substantially.

No more than 5g carb in that meal, cream is less than 2g per 100ml and philadelphia around 4g in 100. Butter negligible too.

I'd guess at too much protein during the day with the pork twice which being protein is slow to metabolise.

My money is on protein stacking and not the tiny amount of carbs in that evening meal.

Thanks @ColS and @Jamesuk9. I am sticking to lchf and weighing my protein. I am having an hba1c test on Friday and have an appointment with the nurse on 4th April. I will see what my level is and then work towards lowering it further next time.
