Low-carb cafés in Newcastle

Hi, can anyone recommend any healthy, atmospheric cafés in central Newcastle? Looking for low-carb options! Thanks.

No idea about low carb cafes in Newcastle but you'd probably do best at an old fashioned greasy spoon where you could have bacon and eggs. Depending on the "atmosphere" you are after it could be fun...just a thought.

Have a look at Tripadvisor - we've found it very helpful for getting phone numbers of likely looking restaurants or cafes then ringing them to check if they do low carb. In my mind there is nothing worse than walking in to a restaurant, sitting down, looking at the menu, realising there's no meals on it you can have, then having to leave. (Done that several times.)

Agreed, many a greasy spoon has no issue throwing together bacon, eggs and shrooms for you and giving you extra portions as you've swerved the bread and beans.

It isn't uncommon for most cafes to understand low carb in a world where one in three is diabetic or Prediabetic.

I totally agree! Most "indie" cafes will give you the "plate of choice" without even having to "understand" customer taste or adhering (job's worthily.) to a "picture" on the over the counter "back lit" menus.. ;)
