My first cold since being diagnosed T2 in Feb 2015. Very tight chest and a cough, definitely don't want antibiotics. BG now up to 7, hope it goes away quickly.

I've just had a very rare, for me, viral thing.

Initially I lost my voice, they streaming nose and eyes for c24hours, the cackling cough and various achy joints. The achy joints I get if I have a viral thing; in old "war wounds". OK, old sporting injuries!

The cough is now 10 days in, but going, fast. It sounds 100% worse than it is.

I did have a couple of days of feeling very tired and a bit grumpy, because I don't do "off colour" too well. My bloods were also up about 1.0 through the early days, which is unusual for me.

I hope you don't have what I did, but if you do, I gather there was "a lot of it around". Deep joy.

definitely don't want antibiotics.

As colds are caused by viruses, antibiotics won't be an option. However, one of my GPs from my dim and distant past gave antibiotics to prevent secondary infections caused by bacteria taking advantage of a compromised immune system.

Anyway, I wish you a speedy recovery, chicken soup and Lemsip, or something like that. Take care.

Dalgety's Honey and Ginger tea is good for smacking a cold down in the first instance. Great for sore throats - just beware that when you make it the colder the tea - the more fiery the ginger! Often to be found in the Caribbean section of supermarkets. Twinings Spiced Ginger is another one - not quite so effective but as the Dalgety one but still good. Hope you feel better soon.

Try a steam inhalation with menthol crystals. Seems to loosen it up a bit for me.

I have just had a cold and, amazingly, I have shaken it off quickly. I think it is because I am healthier now than I have been for years.
