Good Afternoon All

Late posting today but BG this morning at 3.35 = 6.2
Went to 6.5 after an hours walk with dogs, only had 2 cups coffee upto here
Had lunch @ 11.50 am mackeral and salad with avocado whole one, lettuce celery radish pepper and home made dressing, cup tea.
BG two hours later @ 13.50 pm = 4.6
Can anyone throw any explanation has to why for I go from 6.2 to 4.6 even though I've eaten a meal,
This happened again on Friday BG went from 8.4 before evening meal has we had been out whilst out I had a Mocha coffee not had one before it was quite sweet, so I think high reading was from the mocha.
But after evening meal two hours later it dropped to 3.8, I'd had home made beef and veg soup. Anyone with an explanation for the huge drop in BG after eating would you get in touch please. K

Well you will have used the glucose in your bloods for your walk. Your lunch is pretty well low carb/high fat from what I can see - so you will not be adding to your BS level which was already reducing due to activity. Your dinner was the same - proteins and low carb which your body will be using as fuel. Maybe adding some nuts to bring your levels up slightly? I know if I want to keep my levels low for the morning I tend to go for fat and proteins for dinner - with a side chaser of a bit of cheese if I feel the nibbles. If I need some carbs, I go for low carb things like an oat cake with some full fat cheese on.
Hope this helps - and if anyone has a better explanation then please do jump in!

Hi Nicksu,
I have been on a low to no carb diet since January my BG has been fairly stable 5 to 6s not moving much even after food, but Fridays drop left me shaky and stomach cramps,I had some yogurt with fruit and cream to boost it up.
I was ok after eating that, then the stomach cramps started, again following morning I was fine until the drop in BG again today. But I don't feel shaky or anything like Friday. So could it be I need to start eating some small amounts of carbs like your oat cakes and cheese,I have stayed off carbs because they spiked my BG. K

I must admit when I was still on gliclizade if I went down to 3.8 I could feel myself tremble so I get where you are coming from. Since coming off I've been in the high 4's to mid to high 5's for the most part. The Nairns oatcakes are only about 4g of carbs per cake so not too high. I think its a case of see how you go - its like some can eat porridge and others find its spikes them. Very much an individual thing.;):banghead:

You may also have hit the point at which because you have lost weight, your pancreas has become more insulin sensitive than it was. That happened to me and because of that I was able to come off the gliclizade - which was a welcome day indeed!

Hi Nicksu thanks again for you information I am diet controlled type2 no medication, but you are right I've lost a lot of body fat since January and I do believe my pancreas has now probably kicked back in and burning off my BG more efficiently,so I will try to gradually increase in small amounts my carbs and see how it goes.
My weight loss is around a stone But loss in body fat has taken me nearly 4 dress sizes lower,so this may be my the problem, again thanks for the info on oat cakes will be giving them a try and let you know how I get on. Kathleen
