Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

9.3 this morning.

Not that I'm expecting a huge amount of change overall with the newly doubled dosage of metformin (2g now), but does anyone know how long it takes this drug to show an effect on BG numbers? Obviously I'm working on the carbs which I've halved in the last few weeks but still looking to keep on reducing to a level that works for me.

From what I've read it takes some time for metformin to get into your system and do what its supposed to, so I expect any increased dose will do the same. However from what I've also read the drug only has a minimal effect on reducing BG anyway, so dramatically reducing carbs in combination with it is more likely to achieve the best results.

the main job in type 2 is done when lowering the amount of carbs in each meal and on a daily basis, metformin only does like f.x. 10%

Thanks Freema. TBH I've gone from 380 average carbs per day (I know!) to about 190, hence my statement that I've halved it. But looking to get down below 100 with a few more adjustments.

yes and maybe you find that you actually can manage a little more, we are each different , but to know where our level is we need to go down to see at what level our blood glucose normalises

7.0! Eeek! Not had one of those in the morning since the very early days. Delayed reaction to eating out on Saturday perhaps? Heading off on usual walk and will see what that does. Very nervous as back at Drs this morning to talk about the anxiety.
 
9.3 from stress. My neighbour should be locked up. If he weren't an old man, we would have insisted upon it. Silly old fool. Hoping my panic attack is well and truely gone. Having insulin with early breakfast to claw back some normality. Fingers crossed.
