Veg of any kind.
Hi, my question is, KFC, good chicken or bad chicken, only you get veg with it,(corn on the cob) and some carbs in the form of chips and protin in the form of chicken. so good or bad?

if I ate a KFC meal , I`d be in real trouble , I dread to think what my BG would be !! The chicken is good but the coating is fatty and carby, the veg is, for me anyway, indigestable and the chips are taboo !

I remember a TV programme on a group of very obese American youngsters. One of them was lying on a bed (he was almost too big to move) with a bucket of KFC. He was saying how good he was following the docs instructions to eat chicken.

Nutritional info here:
http://www.kfc.co.uk/nutrition/nutritional-information/
At a rough calculation: An average 3 piece selection with some chips and a corn cob would give you about 1300 calories, about 75 from carbs (24 in the chicken coating, the rest in the chips and corn), about 55 from fat, far too much from salt and yes a lot of protein, anout 80g, enough for an 80kg person for the whole day. If you just had 2 pieces you might get away at around the 1000 calories.
By comparison, 200g breast of chicken plus 150g of new potatoes would have about 350 calories of which 25g would be carbs and 8g fat (perhaps a bit more if you used some oil for cooking. You could acompany this with very large portions of green veg or salad etc for very few extra calories/carbs/fat. You could even dry roast the potatoes and not change things by much.
Thats the difference.
I'll admit to having it occasionally, about once in 6 months, usually in the middle of a day spent walking and shopping (which drops my blood glucose levels a lot) I use insulin so the carbs+fat won't
cause a huge spike but in the full knowledge that it isn't good for me.

KFC is BAD. Whether you are T1, or T2. Loads of carbs in the batter, chips is chips, and corn on the cob has lot's of carbs in it too. The corn on the cob is usually drenched in butter, and while I don't usually have a bad thing to say about butter, combining it with swetcorn (the clue is in the name "sweet"corn) can't be a good thing...

There are some recipes around for lo-carb crispy chicken - I think the batter for that chicken is made with crushed nuts/seeds (and your own secret blend of herbs and spices... )

if ya like ya meat chloride treated, then KFC is the place to eat!

I shop at a store sometimes that is next to a KFC and the smell is enough to put you off your dinner

I read that a large fries at KFC has more than 100% of the RDA of saturated fat as they cook them in palm oil, which is pretty much the worst oil you can use. If that's true, how they hell can that be allowed. Anything that is over 100% of the RDA in one serving should not be allowed to be sold IMO.

I was in New Zealand at the time, so i'm unsure if it is country specific thing. But still pretty bad even if it doesn't affect us in this country.
