Hi

Some advice please my 9 year old son is on animas vibe and we are having problems his sugars are all over the place we have tried the libre sensor and the animas sensor but struggle with getting them to stay connected due to removing pump for certain activities and bloods going to high. My DSN has recommended that we swap to the Medtronic as the sensor sends to the pump direct and the blood test send data direct also that it cuts off when dropping low / hypo. I just wondered if anyone can tell me what their experiences are with both pumps and sensors as i don't want to change and find that the animas is the best out of them both?
Thanks in advance

@kelmarie1983 I have a Vibe and love it. I chose it over the Medtronic but I haven't used the Medtronic so I'll tag @catapillar for you.

If your son's bloods are going high, is this due to wrong basal settings or are you saying there's an issue with the Animas sets? If it's the sets, perhaps try another kind.

My 10 year old uses the medtronic and enlite sensors. Apart from the infuriating battle to get the sensors (theres been a supply problem for months) i know exactly what you mean about disconnecting. Today it was off for PE then back on then off for swimming lesson then back on then off for trampolining. Swimming lasts am hour so she bolus' the hours basal (0.3u) before going in. The rest seems to run along ok even with the on off nature of it. School yest her after PE and correct if necessary. Sensors only last 6 days and a bit fiddly compared to libre but certainly switch off pump if heading for a low. We didnt get any choice of pump as her main problem was lows so i cant compare sorry

I've been very happy with the 640G as I found it worked very well. I've also used it with the Enlites and Smartguard, and aside from the 670G, the predictive low glucose suspend is a game changer. You can get more than 6 days out of the sensors, I've generally managed 10 days per sensor, with a few going longer, but it's not often I get two restarts out of them.

As the 640G is Waterproof, @bobcurly , is there any reason why you don't leave the pump on for swimming lessons?

Just that its a very "active" swimming lesson with lots of lengths, diving and rescuing bricks so she feels it would get in the way. We are off to a waterpark in france next week and plan to keep it on

Hi I am a Medtronic 640 pump user and the meter they supply with the pump is great, I haven't had any trouble with the pump or meter. The pump is water proof I can swim with it in the sea and swimming pool, I also go into the sauna and steam room with it on and I can take it off to shower or have a bath if I want to. Hope this helps.
