Following a reduction in 3 months of my HbA1c from 66 to 44, I was happy to agree to a further test another 3 months on. The request has now come through, and it refers to tests for " HbA1c - R, CHO, HDLC, HBA." Can anyone enlighten me as to what these letters stand for please?
 
Just guessing but they appear to have scheduled lipid panel measurements of HDL, LDL and trigs (perhaps) as well as Hba1c measurements from blood tests. CHO likely is an abbreviation for choleresterol. regards Derek

Oh thank you. That makes sense as I mentioned to the nurse I would be interested to see if eating higher fat had made any noticeable impact on my cholesterol.
 
In this context, CHO is probably an abbreviation for cholesterol, HDLC would be high density lipoprotein cholesterol and HBA could be haemoglobin (there are different types of haemoglobin, the most usual in adults in the UK is haemoglobin A).

You could see the same tests abbreviated as chol, HDL-C and Hb.
