Hi Everyone,
My sister and I are looking to go on holiday next February but she is type1 diabetic with a history of vascular vein grafts and a further pending operation for gallbladder removal. Does anyone know of any travel insurance company that would insure her with these pre-existing conditions, any help would be much appreciated.

@Granny_grump_ Ive used Allclear a number of times and found them reasonable:

Thank you Azure I will let my sister have the ins.companys name and see how she gets on after her surgery due in next month or two. It's hard to know who to try with her medical conditions, we have had short breaks in this country but we are looking to go to Spain in February for a few days, then this latest problem occurred. So thank you again will certainly let you know how we get on. Kathleen

Diabetes UK have an arrangement with one of the insurance companies. There should be a link on their website.

Most insurers will insure someone with diabetes but do not cover pre-existing conditions. In my mind these are the ones that are most likely to go wrong. So, I'm totally with you trying to find the right insurance.

Hi
I also use All Clear medical insurance when travelling abroad. I am type I pump user and I have found their quotes clear with no hidden exemptions. They offer various quotes and excess amounts so you can find one that suits your budget.
Have a great time

Another vote for all clear and I have plenty of pre existing conditions as well as diabetes!

Another vote for all clear here........
My wife is going to Spain with her ageing parents.
They have.....
High blood pressure each
Chronic kidney disease
Type 2 diabetes
High cholesterol
Wife is disgustingly healthy!
£91 with no cancellation cover
£121 with

This is for all 3 of them so I don't think that's bad considering the outlaws were quoted £700 plus last year with a different company!

Hope this helps

Tony

Thank you everyone for the great travel insurance advice Allclear ins. Seems to be the way to go, passed this info. onto my sister last night and she is going to call them for a quote. Thanks from both of us Kathleen

It's also worth sometimes healthy members of the party shopping around for cheap quotes you can then add them to your Insurance as companions so they are covered should your illnesses mean you have to change plans. My original Insurance was cancelled from a family policy as I had an asthma admission, husband and son stayed on that policy but they wouldn't cover anything to do with me so I had them covered as companions on my insurance at negligible cost.

Worth having a chat with HSBC - we have cover through our bank accounts, and when I told them I was going abroad, they put us through to the insurance company who did a medical screening and agreed to cover my pre-existing conditions (which are T1, background retinopathy and hypertension).
