Hi @Bill_burgess !

Welcome to the forum..

In short.. Because I don't know how to explain this in my own words..

I found this self explanatory qote for you?
The anxiety of this topic is no less for women as it is for the fellas...

"The reduction in lubrication—together with reduced sensation in the vaginal area—may lead to painful intercourse, a reduced likelihood of achieving an orgasm and, consequently, a reduced sex drive. Women with diabetes may experience decreased sexual desire, inability to have orgasms, and decreased sexual satisfaction."

Hope this helps?!

Also. Would you like me to move this topic to the ask a question section? You may get more responses..

Am type2 and being female, am interested in this post and has got me thinking.
Since being on diabetic meds, yes I have no sexual desires but also I am on other meds, so I do think it's a combination of them all

Hi, I am T1 for 17 years now and have some complications such as mild neuropathy and gastroparesis. I am looking for some answers and suggestions to why I am unable to orgasm. I am worried the nerves are damaged down there however I do still desire sex and enjoy sex. I sometimes require a little lubrication but sex is never painful. I am extremely frustrated that I never reach orgasm. Please Help.

Hello and welcome to the forums.

I think there can be lots of causes for such issues, not necessarily diabetic and not necessarily permanent. I was having a similar issue at about 50 and it didn't even occur to me that it might be a T1 thing. Coincidentally or not, the issue resolved when I started using a mirena to control overly heavy periods, and I have a very happy time even now that I am menopausal and no longer need that device.

I'd advise you to talk to your GP.

My top tip for bedtime happiness is to make sure that you don't go hypo. My partner knows that nothing is going to happen if my cgm gives me a low alert...:)

^My favorite response is or was “What do you *mean* you’ve got to eat something? Now????”

I don't know if diabetes has anything to do with it, but I have a rather indifferent attitude to sex and the joy of orgasm has never been greater than the fear of getting pregnant. Once we didn't communicate with my boyfriend for almost a year and during all this time I didn't have the desire to make love with someone. I don't know if we have less lubricant than people without diabetes (I wonder how is this checked), but I like to use lubricant. Well, seex, like any physical activity, leads to hypoglycemia, but my boyfriend thinks it's almost cute. I can't imagine what's cute about when I can say "wait a minute, I need sugar" in the middle of the process, but he likes to eat sweets in bed :hilarious:

A strange remark about sensitivity in the vaginal area. The orgasm is clitoral, isn't it?

It would be interesting to compare it with how it happens without diabetes, but my diabetes started at an age when I didn't know what sex was at all
