Hi. I'm on a long road trip tomorrow that leaves a 4am. I will do some of the driving but not the first part.

I'm still fairly new to T1D (May) so just Wondering how to manage the 4am start re testing etc. I'll need a coffee but it's too early to be eating.

Obviously I'll check levels before my turn to drive.

Many thanks.

If you're on MDI you don't need to do anything special......

if you aren't eating, you don't take your bolus.....

if you're driving make sure you're legal before setting off and have hypo treatment near by......

MDI? Thanks for that simple little question. So I won't need to test either until I eat, or feel low?
Yes I will check levels before I drive.

MDI = multiple daily injections.

You need to test before driving and every two hours while driving.

Other than that, just test as you normally would.

If you aren't eating, there is no need to bolus.
