I just wanted to post after receiving my latest hba1c result today. A bit of background - my a1c has pretty much been permanently in the high 70s/low 80s since I was diagnosed in 2000.

BUT, things have been going really well in the last year especially. Last August I was 80, it dropped to 67 a few months ago after starting my carb counting, but today I was told that my hba1c is 63!

I've still got work to do but to know that I'm finally doing the right thing is a relief. My nurse said that she's proud of me and to keep doing what I'm doing. I'm going to see my diabetic specialist later this month and she wants to start discussing getting me an insulin pump through the NHS.

I'm just really happy and so proud of myself!

Brilliant! Very very well done and you should be extremely happy and proud of yourself!

It's actually been mentioned to me before. It was brought up briefly early last year but I didn't know anything about a pump and I was adamant that I didn't want something attached to me 24/7 so I never thought about it. Then when I was offered the chance to go on the DAFNE course over the Summer, my specialist brought it up again as something just to think about and then I saw an insulin pump for the first ever during the course (turns out that they are a lot smaller than I imagined). So I've spent the last few months thinking about it and now it's something I think I might go for. Just gotta wait and see my specialist later this month and see what she says.

PS Hey, you need to update that HbA1c in your signature line!

Thanks for reminding me! All done!

And thanks for all of the positive messages everyone! I'm just really glad to know that I'm finally heading in the right direction!

Hi @indyjholtzmann, you've every right to be proud of your success; am so glad for you. You're the second "big achiever" today - just shows what our own efforts, (and a bit of support when needed), can do for us.

Happy dayz :)
