My family has been sick and I think I'm finally catching the cold they all have had. This will be my first time being sick since being diagnosed. My question is for those of you who have been sick with a cold how much of a increase in your blood sugar readings did you see? Did anyone not see a increase? How often should I be testing my blood sugar?

They shouldn’t spike they normally will drop as your body is working hard to fight the cold off. This is what I find but I am type 1

Some type2s spike before symptoms then hypo on some meds with symptoms.
Well I do.
We can be all different as our bodies are more sensitive than others.

Sorry they shouldn’t spike but normally mine fall when I have the cold not as I’m getting a cold but everyone is different

Oh ok that makes sense. How often do you test when you're sick? I was reading it says every 2 to 3 hours which seems like a lot to me.

Its best to monitor more than normal but anyone on lowering bg meds definitely 2-3hrs.
I'm on insulin so if I'm not hospital ill I have to force myself to monitor as much as possible.

Thank you all for the replies! So far my blood sugars have been normal since I got sick
