Type of diabetes
I reversed my Type 2
Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
I feel amazing and need to pat myself on the back. I am a few pounds off losing 8 stone now and I can't tell you how good that feels. I have reversed/resolved or put my Diabetes Type 2 in remission, (not sure which one it is), and this has spurred me on to change my lifestyle for good. I did post about my Diabetes a few months ago now but losing over another 2 stone has made me want to share my update.

I am mostly low carb now, barring a treat a day with my main meal. I did this without thinking about it to be honest but learning about what carbs can do has helped tremendously. My husband doesn't want me to lose any more weight and he's right because I will border on being thin, not slim, but it's just habit now and adjusting my diet to maintain my weight has yet to be conquered.

I'm so pleased that I will proudly now show off the real me in my Avatar. It was taken last year at our 30th Wedding Anniversary party and I'd lost about 7 and a half stone at that point. Cameras now fear me lol. But to say I'm so proud to have changed my Diabetes status isn't a big enough word. Thank you for all the hints and tips on the forum. This is one very happy bunny xx.

Hi @Aldebaran - a HUGE well done for your amazing weight loss! You look absolutely gorgeous in your avatar. I'm so glad you've shared your success - it gives the rest of us a lot of encouragement. May I ask how long it took for you to lose the weight? Well done again :)

Well done indeed that's a huge weight loss and great to hear you are reversed/in remission whatever you want to call it..
Bl**dy brilliant! Well done you.

Oh that is fantastic, very well done. Losing 8 stones is an amazing achievement on top of putting your diabetes in remission. I don't blame you for wanting to shout about it. You look amazing in your avatar. :)

Sometimes we need a bit of encouragement to keep us going so I'm happy that you feel that way. I started my weight loss journey in June/July 2016 so it's taken about 18 months to lose the weight. I've done it slowly, (a pound or two a week), and used my determination and will power to do it because you need those in spades. I've been tempted so many times and wanted to eat my body weight in chocolate but the positivity of what I've done has stopped me. This has now got to be my life so I make sure that I enjoy it. At 52 years old, I feel like a spring chicken and refuse to say I'm old much to my family's disgust. I didn't realise just how much the old me was missing. Well she's back and I like her the best. Thanks Sue xx :)

Thanks bulkbiker. I'm never sure which way to say it but I am so happy about it. It's been worth all the temptation and times where I've wanted to eat the sweet stuff. That doesn't go away so reminding myself of what I've done is important and keeps me going.

I had to do something and I'm so glad I did. One of our doctors wants to use my case when he does a class with medical students concerning Diabetes Type2. I felt famous lol and was thrilled about that. Back in jeans and leaping up and downstairs like a 20 year old. I'll take that anyday over how I was. Thank you Bluetit :)

Congratulations @Aldebaran - you have achieved so much and truly are an inspiration to newbies like me! I hope your nurse/doctor has given you a pat on the back too!

Wow totally amazing xxxx

Well done Aldebaran! I’m part way through my weight loss journey, I too need to lose around 8 stone to get into a healthy BMI score. I’ve managed just over 5 stone so far on low carbing and help from this Forum, it’s great here isn’t it?! I hope to be joining you soon in losing the rest. I like to call my Diabetes “very well controlled” but that’s not an option here so I plumped for “In Remission”!

Thank you eggs11. I must admit that it's a huge compliment to be called an inspiration from people yourself x. The doctor who wants to use my case was genuinely flummoxed. I've never left a medical expert that dumbfounded so hopefully he will encourage others now that he knows it can be done. We all need a boost occasionally.

You've done brilliantly so far Rachox. And I agree that this forum has a wealth of knowledge that is vital for all Diabetics. The way I look at my Diabetes is that if I hadn't indulged in chocolates and goodness knows what else, I wouldn't have got it in the first place. My diet was unbelievably bad. I ate chocolate and buns, etc, every day and at 1.00am, 2.00am and even 3.00am in the morning, every night. It's one of those conditions where you're never sure how to word it when someone has done what we have. Good luck with the rest of your weight loss xx.
